Instead of transcending the suffering of all creatures, we move towards the turbulence and doubt. We tiptoe into it. We move toward it however we can. We explore the reality and unpredictability of insecurity and pain, and we try not to push it away. If it takes years, if it takes lifetimes, we let it be as it is. At our own pace, without speed or aggression, we move down and down and down. With us move millions of others, our companions in awakening from fear. Right down there in the thick of things we discover, the love that will not die.
~ Pema Chodron
just some thoughts all about the ways in which life continues to surprise me. in BIG ways and in small ways as well. reflections that remind me that we're always changing and growing...hopefully for the better! and perhaps it's also a reminder that there are some very sweet things, special people, wonderful places, and memorable moments in all of our lives...sometimes we just need to slow down to take it all in. and give thanks.

friday quotation
It's that time of year...when I'm trying to remind my students of this truth (and trying not to sound like I'm an adult who knows "soooo" much at the same time - how far that would be from the truth!).
Some luck lies in not getting what you thought you wanted but in getting what you have, which once you have got it you may be smart enough to see is what you would have wanted had you known.
