There's this beautiful expression in Navajo that people use to greet one another. It's Yá'át'ééh, meaning "hello" but really it is an expression of love and kindness upon greeting someone. It embodies the notion of bringing things together and preserving harmony. I also heard it described as meaning "it is good" or "it is well". I love the symbolism and the depth of meaning behind each Navajo word. Words that sometimes describe the sound that something makes. Words that tell more of a story than simply what the word is. Such a lovely, complex, lyrical, beautiful language... |
just some thoughts all about the ways in which life continues to surprise me. in BIG ways and in small ways as well. reflections that remind me that we're always changing and growing...hopefully for the better! and perhaps it's also a reminder that there are some very sweet things, special people, wonderful places, and memorable moments in all of our lives...sometimes we just need to slow down to take it all in. and give thanks.
