...is through his stomach. Or so the old adage goes. And I found further proof of it today. At the bookstore. When I found this hysterical book - Are You Grumpy, Santa?
Summary: Santa is having a bad day. He wakes up early because Mrs. Claus is snoring too loudly. He stubs his toe on his bowling ball on the way to the shower where the water is freezing. (Duh, it's the North Pole...anyway.) His elves try to warm up his favorite Santa suit for him but they put it in the dryer and it shrank. So he has to wear an old itchy Santa suit. Finally, he's ready to head out the door to his reindeer and sleigh but he finds them buried in the snow. Once they get going, they almost crash into the North Pole. Oh, and he loses his hat along the way. At the first house, his belly is too big to fit down the chimney and he bruises his rear when he falls into the fireplace. In Paris, he's chased by a poodle...in Italy, he slips on some pasta...in Pamplona, the bulls chase him down...and in Phoenix, he runs into a cactus. Finally, he makes it to the last house where he ends up pulling down the chandelier, falling flat on his back, and declaring, "I'm a grumpy Santa Claus." Until he sees something under the tree...just for him. A plate of cookies with a note: "We made you all these cookies 'cause we love you Santa Claus."
The authors say that Santa smiled because "when people do nice things for you the GRUMPIES disappear". I know it's because the cookies were yummy...
P.S. The book is much funnier than my version of it...the pictures are great! If you need a good laugh, check it out at your local bookstore.
