yoga Monday

This morning's yoga message was all about transitions...about how nothing really stays the same...about how if we ever really want to grow we have to let go of what we know and give ourselves room to become something else. Pretty cool. Pretty frightening. I always feel a mix of giddiness and fear at the thought of change. It's full of possibilities and yet it's different. I'd like to continue to be better with the whole thought of change...and more graceful in my transitions.
The weather around here seems to be only about change these days. Sun...snow...spring...and then winter again. Apparently it's not all in our minds either. This winter in Austin will go down in the books as being one of the 8th coldest winters since they started keeping track of such things in the mid 1800s. No wonder we're a little weary of mornings in the 30s as we hop on our bikes or into the pool. But before we know it, it will be in the 90s on a regular basis and we'll be wishing for these cold mornings. The weather right now is actually quite wonderful...crisp mornings but plenty of sun during the day and then chilly nights after the sun sets. Makes for nice evening runs...even when your legs are toast, like mine were tonight. Those hills on Sunday took it out of me - partly because they are just fierce but also because I'm needing to tweak nutrition stuff in general and specifically during my run. Thank you, Jess, for puzzling through that with me. Anticipating a rebound any day now!
